This book takes the reader on a walk through some of Buffalo County’s early history as remembered and/or told to Mr. Ganz as well as some of his family’s pioneering struggles which, so familiar to the early pioneer families, are not so familiar today. Mr. Ganz details the early beginnings of Buffalo County’s education system and the early struggles of farming the varied lands that can be found within the county limits. There are wonderful memories of the days of the riverboats, the games and activities that children used for amusement in pioneer days and how the Huber brothers put the word “buffalo” back in Buffalo County.
An extra special part of this book includes E. F. Ganz’ article titled “The Part of Buffalo County Women in Pioneering.” This article gives a rare glimpse into the lives of the women that came with those that we think of as our early pioneers. All of the included articles detail the daily lives of the pioneer women, children, farmers and merchants that made Buffalo County into what it is today.
This book is being available right now for a price of $30 for hardcover and $20 for paperback versions. It includes 228 pages with illustrations and a full name index. The books should be available for pickup or shipping by December 7, 2007 to make a GREAT Christmas gift! To place an order today, please click here.
