The 2009 theme for the Buffalo County Historical Society is "Veterans," and we are working hard to find suitable programs as well as some other projects for this year regarding what types of sacrifices Buffalo County veterans from the Civil War to the present day have made and endured.
Part of this plan included the opening of our Heritage Hall, at 316 South Main, in Alma. This building will be open for the public on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the summer and hopefully into the winter months as well. Heritage Hall will have displays of Buffalo County veteran history as well as educational programs throughout the year. These programs start with a class, "Getting Started in Genealogy," that will be taught by our Executive Director, Kelly Herold, on Saturday, June 6, 2009, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you have any questions or know of anyone that would be interested in sharing Buffalo County history with our office, please contact Kelly at 608-685-6290 or at historical@buffalocounty.com.
Our office is open
from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. If your schedule
requires you to come at a different time, please call and make an appointment by
calling the office at 608-685-6290.
