Christmas Memories Essay Contest
The Buffalo County Historical Society would like to take this opportunity to request submissions to its 2007 Christmas Essay Contest. BCHS hopes to collect stories of Christmas-time memories from Buffalo County that can be used to show future generations what past and present holiday times were like. The Society requires that all submissions be turned in by November 30, 2007, and they must follow the contest guidelines.
The essay must describe a favorite Christmas-time memory or memories. There is a 1,500 word limit to the essays with no minimum word limit. Each essay will be judged by three categories, 45% how it fits the theme, 45% how attention-grabbing it is and 10% grammar. The essays, along with your name, address and telephone number can be mailed to BCHS – Christmas Essay, PO Box 394, Alma, WI 54610, emailed to historical@buffalocounty.com or dropped off in the office in the Buffalo County Courthouse. Prizes include $25 grand prize, $15 for second and $10 for third places.
All essays become the property of the Buffalo County Historical Society and will be displayed to the public at the Buffalo County Historical Society’s storage and display location, 316 South Main Street in Alma, during the Alma Christmas Walk on December 5th from 2-7 p.m. The essays may also be displayed in other locations such as in print or online.
